Ukrainian-Polish academic cooperation in the field of social sciences and humanities (1961 - 1965): source study and historical aspects

Aim of the research. The research conducted source study analysis of little known archival documents, on the basis of which it was possible to reconstruct Ukrainian-Polish academic cooperation in the field of social sciences and humanities within 1961-1965 time frame. The methodology of the research presupposes the usage of historical, archival, source study, and chronological methods, methods of analytical-synthetic processing of materials and also the method of scientific examination. This methodological approach allows to determine the degree of informative value of archival documents and to propose historical reconstruction of Ukrainian-Polish scientific relations in the field of social humanities sciences in 1961-1965. The scientific novelty of the research can be found in the systematisation of the spacious collection of archival sources concerning the history of Ukrainian-Polish academic relations as well as inclusion of little known and partially non-researched documents into scientific circulation, and on their basis to complete full reconstructions of various collaboration spheres between academic institutions in Ukraine and Poland within socio-humanitarian profile. Conclusions. The analysis of archival documents, which have been preserved at the archives of the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine Archive and the Institute of Archival Studies at V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine allows to make conclusions that Ukrainian research facilities of socio-humanitarian profile made an important contribution to the establishment and development of scientific cooperation with Polish scientific institutions. Forms of this cooperation expanded and constituted common analysis of the scientific problems, in which both Academies of Sciences were interested as well as familiarisation with the scientific issues of academic institutions in Ukraine and Poland, publications of scientific researches and their results, mutual peer review of scientific works, organization of internships, exchange of book resources. Ukrainian and Polish researchers used practically the gained experience as well as the most successful forms of scientific and research work, which was practiced at the time by the Academies of Sciences in Ukraine and Poland.
