Documents of the academician Mykola Boholiubov in the archival funds of V. I. Vernadskyi National library of Ukraine

The aim of the research is to reveal the structure and documentary contents of the personal archive of the prolific physicist-theorist and mathematician, full member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine M. M. Boholiubov, which is preserved at the Institute of Archival Studies at the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine as well as to determine the scope of the scientist’s documents, which ended up being in other archival fonds of the Institute of Archival Studies and the Institute of Manuscript within the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. The methodology of the research includes the application of historical-typological, historical-systematic, and historical-chronological methods. The afore mentioned methodological approach allows to determine the types of M. M. Boholiubov’s documents located within the archival fonds of V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine as well as their informative potential to provide additional coverage of scientist’s biography. The scientific novelty of the research can be found in the inclusion of the archival documents into the scientific circulation. The documents themselves enhance already known information on M. M. Boholiubov’s life, activities, work as well as the scientist’s family. Conclusions. A considerable collection of M. M. Boholiubov’s documents concerning him and his family is preserved at the archival fonds within the Institutes of Archival Studies and Manuscript at V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. The documents ended up in the personal archive of M. M. Boholiubov and other scientists as well as the complex archival fond «All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences» and the archival fonds of the Institute of Mathematics of the NAS of Ukraine. The documents, scientific works, documents of biographical nature, articles and recollections about the scientists, documents illustrating his activities, letters, and photographic documents, which are preserved at the archival fonds of V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine allows to broaden the knowledge of M. M. Boholiubov’s life and works.
