Abstract

In this Yevgen Sautin's strategy paper review, PhD. Serhii Koshovyi highlights China's interests in the Black Sea Region in relation to its BRI initiative. The 2018 strategy paper of the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI) “China's Black Sea Ambitions” includes case studies on People's Republic of China (PRC) engagement in Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and Georgia, as well as Chinese diplomacy geopolitical agenda in the Black Sea region and in wide Europe. There is no doubt that the current analytical material analyzed the behavior, interest and influence of China, whose political weight is growing at a rapid pace not only as a global player, but also as an emerging world power in the Black Sea region as a whole and in number of countries in particular. China has pushed forward across many different sectors, funding critical infrastructure projects, prompting local governments and institutions to cooperate, cultivating ties with political, military and of course business elites. China unveiled a wide-ranging set of incentives to mentioned countries companies and individuals. In this context, Y. Sautin's material becomes especially relevant.
