Abstract
The companions of the prophet were the first respondents of the Qur'an, they were also the closest friends to the prophet (pbuh). They not only supported him in sharing the heavy responsibility of the revelation but also sacrificed their lives and properties for his cause. On the other hand, the companions of the prophet were not only the first incorporators of the Islamic State, but also a virtuous community that constitutes the core of the civilization of Islam. By declaring “sami'na wa ata'na” (we have heard and we have sur-rendered), they had shown that they were the model generation representing trustworthiness and submission to the command-ments and prohibitions of the Qur'an. Therefore the method, pa-tience and perseverance they showed in reflecting the principles of Qur'an to their lives, should be a well-considered example for the next generations. This essay will try to reflect how the com-panions obeyed the Qur'anic commands and refrained from its prohibitions in various stages of their lives through different ex-amples.
