Abstract

This paper presents an overview of the first outcomes of the European research project MEDiATE. The main objective of MEDiATE is to allow better interoperability of platforms dedicated to the elderly people. Each existing elderly platform provides a set of services, such as communication between helpers and elderlies, organization and scheduling of activities. However, each platform has its own data model with specific interface to call services. One believes that collaboration between such heterogeneous platforms should enhance the quality of services by providing more features to satisfy needs of an elderly at home. The MEDiATE targeted solutions will be built, deployed and interfaced to existing elderly platforms: Touchscreen VisAge and Internet-connected TV application e-Lio, and the EGLU platform. The scientific contribution of MEDiATE consists of providing a clear architecture of the whole system and to propose the specification of a knowledge model to address the heterogeneity of the local models of data.
