Abstract
SPIONs, an iron oxide with paramagnetic property. It has versatile application in the field of biomedicine and environment. In this present study, SPIONs were synthesized by chemical co-precipitation method, loaded with itraconazole, a drug known to possess antibacterial and antifungal activities, encapsulated with microbial polymer (Polyhydroxybutyrate - PHB). Thus, prepared coreshell SPIONs were used for studying in-vitro delivery of itraconazole. Every stage of the drug coating and PHB encapsulation were studied by Scanning Electron Microscopy. The produced drug loaded nanoparticles were checked for drug release pattern and hemolysis assays. It was found to be releasing drug for long time and less toxic to RBC. The nanoparticles were subjugated as contrasting agent in X-ray imaging, where it showed an enhancement of imaging
