Abstract

Historical Portals of medinas are an integral part of the history of the civilizations that have passed through them. These monuments are a link with the past and the history of these medinas. The value of these monuments is important historically, architecturally, culturally and socially. Unfortunately, urban development has involved the destruction of some historical portals, and the opening of others portals and bays on the walls of the medinas. As a result, these portals of history have been marginalized to the detriment of urban expansion. The enhancement of these historical portals becomes a primordial necessity to preserve the history of our ancestors. Several criteria are taken into account in this evaluation, such as the historical character, the architecture, the socio-cultural aspect and the conservation state. The aim of this study is the valorization of the portals of the medina of Salé. A diagnosis of these portals has been established to identify their conservation states. Then, multi-criteria methods AHP and TOPSIS were used to evaluate these portals, taking into account the judgments of the stakeholders.
