The Role of School’s Committee in School Based Management

Abstract
This study aimed at analyze and describe the role of the school committee as a provider of consideration, support, control and mediator, in improving the quality of education in elementary school Negeri 25 Gelumbang.The research was conducted through a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research data were collected with in-depth interview techniques, observation, and documentation study with school committee, school principal, teacher, supervisor, parents of 25 Gelumbang Elementary School students. Data analysis was performed by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. To check the validity of the data is done with credibility, dependability, and confirmability. The results showed that the formation of the committee had referred to the provisions of the legislation and involved elements of the teacher council, the community and the government. The prominent role of the school committee is related to giving consideration and support, while the role of the committee as a controller is still limited in the use of school budgets and does not touch on academic issues and evaluating school performance.
