Features of the Russian service market with regard to the publication of scientific articles in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science

Abstract
The aim of this study is to describe and analyze the activity of market services rendered to the authors of scientific articles by intermediaries to assist with the publication of articles in journals indexed in international citation databases Scopus and Web of Science. The paper presents the empirical results obtained through the study of sites of organizations providing mediation services; interviews with representatives of these organizations, as well as with their customers. Using the information gathered, the article describes the mechanisms of interaction of market participants of publication services in relation to the currently existing institutional conditions. An attempt is made to determine the existence of a negative impact on the reliability of the market indices publication activity of Russian authors, as well as to identify the main reasons for its occurrence. The resulting study data allows the proposal of measures to reduce the activity of market services considered by improving the system for training teaching staff.
