Abstract
This work aims to present descriptively some aspects of the sample letters of a couple of the Rio de Janeiro, in 1936 and 1937. Since they are unknown people, we could not get any information about the social profile of the writers. However, from reading the letters, some aspects of the bridal couple could be observed. In addition to the familiar information verified by reading the letters, there was difference in the degree of literacy among the scribes Maria (MRC) and Jayme (JOS). While the bride MRC has more graphematic deviations than the groom, JOS uses some stylistic features to make his text seems more erudite.
