Abstract
Based on the analysis of the semantics of colouratives in the paintings descriptions from a design website, the author identifies a number of models based on metaphorization and metonymization, as well as se- mantic universals, according to which the semantic development of colouratives is carried out. The properties of colouratives in art descriptions are their broad polysemy (the use of metaphors with the same primary meaning to denote different feelings and moods), as well as synonymy (the use of words with different primary meaning to denote the same feeling or mood)
