Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is the most common chronic disease accounts for 31% worldwide, which gradually impacts on our systems. By the time diabetes is diagnosed half of the people are in the complications of may be heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney disease, depression, nerve damage or amputations leading to disability and premature mortality. All the complications are more or less caused by hyperglycemia which is either because of impaired production of insulin by β-langerhan cells of pancreas, designated as Type 2 Diabetes, or because of severe lack of insulin production due to specific destruction of pancreatic β- cells, designated as Type 1 Diabetes. In order for glucose to be transferred from the blood into the cells, the hormone - Insulin is needed which is produced by the β-cells in the pancreas.
