Abstract
Abstract: Blood groups ABO and Rhesus, constituting the most principal blood group system, are of key signicance for clinical and transfusion practices and are moreover, thought to be associated with disease susceptibility Objective: To nd out the General Trend of Blood Group Dissemination among Local Population of Muzaffarabad. Methods: It was a descriptive study conducted at Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) hospital for blood group typing. Blood samples were obtained from 100 healthy individuals who reported to the Department of Pathology, through convenient sampling technique. Antiserums were used for ABO and Rh typing. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 22.0. Results: Most frequent blood group among donors was B and lowest frequency blood group was that of AB. The donors having Rh positive comprised were 88% and Rhesus negative were 12%. Overall occurrence of ABO blood groups showed 38% for blood group B, 36% group O, 18% group A and 7% group AB trend. Conclusions: The most common blood group type among donors in Muzaffarabad was 'B' followed by O, then A and AB. Rhesus positive comprised 88.00% and Rhesus negative were 12%. The overall trend found in our study B>O>A>AB match with the general patterns found in nationally. Keywords: ABO, Rh, Blood groups, Antigens, Antibodies, Local population.
