Abstract
Preparation and characterization of a filler metal of the same base metal used, this preparation consists in machining the base metal until the formation of the electrode of diameter of 4 mm. The parameters envisaged by the characterization are the mechanical properties of the energy at break Rm, the evolution of deformability by folding and the hardness HV. This characterization will be performed in comparison with the commercial filler metal of the same diameters and the same preparation condition. This paper describes an investigation on the effect of filler metals of two similar metals namely, carbon steel S275 JR. Manual Gas Tungsten Arc welding (SMAW) with three filler metals including ER 80S-Ni1,ER309L, ER NiCrMo-3 were selected to weld the two metals. Penetrant and Radiography tests were performed on the welded metals to ensure the surface and internal soundness of the welds based on the tensile tests results, Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). The filler prepared didn't generate any crack in the bendtest so has an acceptable deformation capacity.
