Abstract
The work presented here is carried out to optimize the various machining parameters like speed, feed andcutting depth in up milling and down milling of EN31 material. Cutting temperature and surface roughness are the outputs of the work. Taguchi based grey relational analysis finds its effectiveness in multi-response optimization. After achieving the optimum level of parameters, justification of test is carried out.The analysis recognised the feed rate as the major affecting parameter. The work reveals that coated carbide givesa better surface finish whereas coating doesn't affect the temperature
