Abstract

Background. Despite the high level of medicine, the problem of child disability remains an urgent problem in modern society. The purpose of the work is to analyze the dynamics and structure of primary childhood disability in various nosological forms in children of Grodno region for scientific substantiation of research works in this field and development of measures of applied significance. Material and methods. We studied the data of Grodno region statistical reporting on children under the age of 18 recognized as disabled for the first time in various nosological forms. We estimated the dynamics of disability for the period 2014-2019. Results. The data analysis shows that the number of children recognized as disabled for the first time in 2014-2019 in the Grodno region is 16.8-18.9 per 10,000 children. The structure is dominated by congenital malformations, mental diseases, and pathology of the nervous and endocrine systems. Conclusions. The level of primary child disability in the Grodno region for the period 2014-2019 is 18.3 (17.3-18.5) per 10,000 children on average. There was an increase in the number of children under 18 recognized as mentally disabled for the first time. High growth rates have been established for diseases of the circulatory system (on average 25.7% per year) and the digestive system (14.5% per year).
