Abstract
An experimental investigation on the TEC (thermoelectric cooler) Air-Conditioner with evaporative cooler act as condensing unit at personal space was performed. The main objective of this experiment is to determine the Coefficient of Performance (COP) of the system which enable it to achieve thermal comfort according to the ASHRAE Standard. The electric current of the thermoelectric is the variable in this study. The cooling system of the air conditioner is the assembly of a several parts that include thermoelectric modules model TEC-12706, heatsink-fan, water heatsink, water pump, water pipeline, radiator, and evaporative cooler. The office size was 12 ft x 11 ft, light activities and with few equipment generating heat. The result showed that this system can increase the COP of TEC plate from previous studies whereby using various condensing methods. This experiment obtained that the COP of TEC plate condensed by Evaporative cooling is 0.39. Moreover, this study showed that between 3A and 6A of running current can reach thermal comfort temperature and the COP increases with the time. The optimum running current for the system is 5A which the system's COP achieve the highest values. The effectiveness of the evaporative cooling is 0.56 on average.
