Abstract
The aim of this paper is showing up and analyzing main data metrics used by Puerto Rico to measure cultural activities. Culturehas been transformed from a national and symbolic vector to an economic game-changer agent. Government agencies around the world involving culturalpolicies worked out adata system to visualize its capital value and social impact.Given the importanceto fit in this trend Puerto Rico faces a remarkable challenge aspublic agenciesappear with many flawson providinginformation,providejust a handful datareports on cultural activities,haveoverlyrelied in U.S dataand lack of a propersystemfor measuringculturaland creative activitiesfrom a broader view. In addition,we will examinecurrent data measurements for culture around Puerto Rico as well intendsto show a globally recognized methodological framework in order to develop a Cultural Satellite Account. Besides,it shows a public policy concern about a notoriously dearthof transparency in several agencies besides a limited accessibility for handing out documents.Subsequently there isa comparison between three countries recognized by building metricsand statistical tools to measure creative and cultural economic activity.
