In hospital settings, nurses work as frontline staff, who forms the largest group of healthcare professionals. Therefore, the performance of nurses is considered an important factor in quality healthcare since nurses in hospitals have the highest level of direct patient care. This study explored nurses from five super specialty private hospitals in Coimbatore city and the data were gathered through self-administrated questionnaires. In the nursing context, engagement is viewed as dedicated, absorbing, vigorous nursing practices, and job performance is measured in terms of task and contextual performance. All study hypotheses were tested using multiple regression. The statistical outcome of the study depicts a positive and significant correlation between employee engagement and task performance and contextual performance of nurses. And therefore, this study suggests some recommendations and conclusions for future research study in the area of employee engagement.
