Abstract

The article tells about the tragic life of the scientist and king Mirzo Ulugbek, the artistic interpretation of his activities in the context of the conflicts of his late life. A talented representative of the Uzbek literature and a master of word, Odil Yakubov left a huge mark in the development of prose with a number of his works. In his work "The Old World" the writer, along with creation of Abu Ali ibn Sina and Abu Rayhan Beruni's portrayals, analyzed complicated period in which they lived and its impact on human spirituality. The novel “Ulughbek's Treasure” describes historical conflicts of Mirza Ulughbek in the period of his late life. The novel also depicts the life, creativity, and works of Ali Kushchi with relation to Mirza Ulughbek's life. In the series of events depicted in the novel we can see a person's destiny suffering from the conflict between the king Mirza Ulughbek and his son Abdulatif, his son's struggle against his father's throne, and the treachery of some palace officials in the context of serious historical facts. Especially, in this complex historical period of time, the writer tried to interpret vivid scenes regarding the faith and devotion of Ali Kushchi towards his mentor Mirza Ulughbek, that he did not change his attitude towards his mentor when his son Abdulatif betrayed him, but instead, at the risk of his life, his effort to preserve the works created over the years through an artistic expression of historical reality. Odil Yakubov, who thoroughly investigated and being impacted by historical facts, carefully described the lives of the people suffering from the conflicts of Mirza Ulughbek and his son Mirza Abdulatif in the novel, his son's struggle for the throne, the complexities of the nation, and the tragedies of the kingdom. The writer emphasizes the reasons of the contradictions in the spiritual world of Mirza Ulughbek, illustrating them in the form of monologue and dialogical discourses. The interpretation in Odil Yakubov's novel “Ulughbek's Treasure” shows that there is a human relationship between Mirza Ulughbek and his student Ali Kushchi in fiction. The artistic image of both great figures proves to be very well-grounded. The existence of special literary function of monologue and dialogical discourse is proved within development of the novel events.
