Abstract

Motives have a very important place in terms of workers' corporate belonging and working life. These motives are indeed controllable and it is important for the management to recognize these motives and produce strategic solutions according to the expectations of the workers. At this point, Herzberg classified the motivating factors as motivational factors and hygiene factors. Hygiene factors must exist by institutions nature, although the presence of hygiene factors does not motivate the person; the absence of the hygiene factor is defined as something that endangers the working continuity of the workers. Motivational factors are the factors that can increase the working success of individuals and trigger them to perform more. At this point, it is not enough for an ideal management process to provide motivational factors without hygiene factors or to have a managerial tendency based upon only hygiene factors. In order to determine the place of motivation in the working life within the scope of our study, the concept of motivation has been studied comprehensively and its place and effects on working life have been emphasized. In this context, the factors in The Devil's Wears Prada Movie are analysed in order to clarify the motivational and hygiene factors in Herzberg's theory.
