Abstract
Water jet peening is the mechanical surface treatment technique used to improve the surface properties of materials. In the present study the influence of hardness and surface roughness during single pass and two pass treatmentswere studied during water jet peening of AA6063-T6 aluminium alloy. The specimen surfaces were treated with multiple passes. The input parameters considered in the present work are Water Pressure, Stand of Distance and Traverse rate.. In present work, the experiments are conducted by Box-Behnken Design (BBD). The experimental study revealsincrease in the micro hardness up to 26% in single pass treatment and up to 34% in double pass treatments and surface roughness of the peened surface is increased up 24% in single pass treatment and up to 26% in double pass treatment over the unpeened sample. The XRD results show that there is no significant changes were observed in water jet peened surface.
