Abstract
Objective: Tooth extraction is a process of extracting the tooth from alveolar process which can damage tissues, whether it is soft or hard tissue. Clove bud (Syzygiumaromaticum L.) well known as medicinal plants in variety of culture. Research shows that clove bud extract have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant and analgesic properties which make it one of the options for post tooth extraction treatment. This research intended to find out the effectivity of cloves bud extract towards the neutrophils count on post tooth extraction. Materials and Methods: This research is an experimental research using wistar white fur rat (Rattusnovergicus). The white rat lower jaw incisive tooth was extracted and then the clove extract with 20%, 40%, 60% concentration and control substance applied to the sites. On the third day, all white rat inflammatory response examined by counting the neutrophils in the extraction site using microscope. Results: The neutrophils count later analyzed with one way ANOVA method. This research shown p=0.03 (<0.05) which means that there is significant differences among controls group with interventions group. Conclusion: This research concludes that cloves bud extract as anti-inflammatory are effective to reduce inflammation which indicated by reduced neutrophils count in tooth extraction site
