The article is devoted to understanding the essence of informatization in the context of the formation of a new technological picture of the world and the growing demand for progressive solutions and trade secrets created in the computer industry. The genesis of the content of informatization is presented, its versatility is revealed, and the evolutionary line of development of these processes is continued. a modern interpretation of the concept of«informatization» is proposed, and its targets are defined, namely: increasing the efficiency of social production, socio-economic progress and ensuring the economic security of the state.
