As a living creature, man has very common aspect with animals. However, he has quite important feature that distinguishes himself from animals. Man is the living being that brings culture into existence. In this respect, human being, who has brought about culture, is differentiated himself from animals in terms of both essence and degree. Culture covers all intellectual, mental, written, documental, architectural and verbal aspects by which the reproduction of the nature given to man by human hands and the inclusion of new elements into the nature have been manifested. The building block of culture is knowledge. Knowledge, however, should not be understood only as scientific knowledge. Undoubtedly, scientific knowledge is also a kind of knowledge. So it constructs culture together with all kinds of knowledge, related to science, philosophy, religion, art, morality briefly all aspects of live, that human beings acquire. The building block of knowledge finds itself in language. Words and concepts that will correspond within the language are the building blocks of knowledge. The relationship between word, concept and logic finds itself in the language sphere and they, all together, bring about the opportunity to form knowledge. Therefore, the quality of language shall determine the quality of culture directly, and the quality of culture shall determine the quality of human life. Strong language will create the potentialities of strong people. In this study, the relationship between culture, knowledge and language will be discussed by feeding on the thoughts of Necati Oner and having been emphasized the importance of mother-tongue in the context of forming the self of society.
