Abstract

The skill set required to grab and succeed in an employment is Employability skills. These are considered as a personal capability to get recruited and placed in a suitable job as well as to continue and grow in that assignment. It is a debating point that Keralites in general are intellectual persons but their personal skills are seemed to be not conducive enough to utilize promptly in an organisational set up. The entrepreneurship is another vital virtue needed to make the economy and society vibrant. The skill set required to be a successful entrepreneur is the entrepreneurial skills. But it is seemed that the entrepreneurial skills of the Keralites are low due to their reluctance to take risk and to experiment with business ideas. In this realm, the present study investigates the employability skills as well as entrepreneurial skills of the youth as these are the vital influencing components in the discussion and study of# the subject of employment and unemployment. Unemployment among youth is one of the serious issues of our state. Therefore it is pertinent to have a look into the present status of employability skills and intrepreneurial skills of the youth. This study gives focus to the educated youth because educated unemployment is seen as one of the worst problems hitting our state. This is due to the changes happening in the field of business and employment. And the study is purported to portray the level of employability and entrepreneurial skills among educated youth in Kerala through a sample survey conducted among 594 educated youth. They were provided with a questionnaire to rate their skill sets using five point Likert Scale. Systematic Random Sampling technique is used to draw samples from the population.
