Drivers of Information Technology Based Born Global Firms in Rapid Internationalization: A Case Study Approach

Abstract
This paper proposes a model that explains the drivers of IT based born global firms for rapid internationalization. Qualitative approach through in-depth interviews employed to explore and identify the internal and external fctors contributing to capabilities and business straties for rapid internationlisation. We found that all the firms interviewed in this study has agreed with the identified factors as contributor of rapid internationalization. However, it was found that not all the firms agree with the cost leadership and first mover advantage. Apart from that, it was also figured out that even though innovation plays key role in IT based born global firms, but may not be applicable to all the firms. One of the firm interviewed has chosen creativity as their key role factor instead of innovation. Lastly, firms that do not require large capital are better off by avoiding external fund to reduce unnecessary financial risk
