Abstract

In the article the peculiarities of the formation of the image of the world of the individual in using modern information and communication technologies is considered. It is noted that the modern digital world creates economic and social conditions for modifying the image of the world of a particular individual and the mass consciousness in general. The concept of the image of the world is analyzed and its structure and functions are revealed. Psychological mechanisms of influence of digital information and communication technologies on formation of an image of the world of the person are considered. It is emphasized that the mechanism of world image formation can be modified due to immersion in practical activities with digital objects, due to total transition to communication with gadgets, due to impossibility to update deep knowledge of object properties by replacing them with short messages and fast reading of Internet browser headers. Widespread use of the information and communication technologies provides additional leverage to manipulate the individual (through the selection of special messages), and the mass consciousness through the formation of myths and propaganda of the "Russian world". It is noted that the virtualization and digitalization of society as a whole exacerbates social and civilizational problems. It is emphasized that the convergence of information and cognitive technologies opens the way to economic prosperity and social integration but requires the formation of a new type of human capital with developed soft skills, which may conflict with a unified "digital" image of the world that reduces critical thinking and flexibility.
