Abstract
It has been established that the economic development of any country, the welfare of its population, to a large extent depend on the ability to fully satisfy the needs of its citizens, among which food is the basic one. In addition, food security is the category, which is used to characterize the level of food security. Consequently, the issue of studying the features of the strategy's elaboration for the development of the agroindustrial complex on the way to forming a high level of food security as one of the key elements of the country's national security becomes extremely urgent. Within the conditions of Ukraine's desire to integrate into the European community, the issue of ensuring food security is of particular importance. After all, experience has shown that only a country that can support the provision of food to citizens regardless of the influence of external and internal factors, has the ability to pursue an independent policy. In accordance with the foregoing, the academic paper identifies the role of food security for the effective performance of the country in the world market. The normative acts, adopted in Ukraine, have been analyzed to ensure the development of the agroindustrial sector in the near future. In addition, it has been established that the concept of food security is to be considered at the national and regional levels. In addition, we have identified conceptual approaches to the formation of food security and models used for its formation. The principles, applied to create food security of the country have been analyzed. The indicators that are used to assess its condition have been clarified. An analysis of food security's level in Ukraine for 2017-2018 was carried out in the academic paper by identifying one of the indicators that characterize it, namely, the consumption sufficiency indicator of basic types of food. At the same time, we have determined the level of Ukraine's self-sufficiency by different groups of food products in 2018. Following the outlined line of research, the academic paper analyzes the import dependence' degree of the domestic market of Ukraine's food products, and determines the change dynamics in indicators for 2017-2018. The current level of Ukraine's food security has been established and prospects for its further development in modern conditions have been outlined through the prism of determining the influence degree of Ukraine on food security in the world.
