Abstract
The article deals with the issues of the protection of pregnant women in the health# care system of Ukraine. As a result of the study, it has been demonstrated that violence against women during reproductive health care and facility-based child birth is a serious violation of women's human rights. The aim of the study is to elucidate the current state of protection of pregnant women's rights to adequate health care, to explore the concept of obstetric violence, and to formulate proposals for changes to legislation to strengthen the protection of obstetric violence. As a result of the study, it has been demonstrated that there is an international recognition of the fact that the issue of human rights is also to be resolved in the sphere of maternity care. Often, written rights are not secured, or additional rights are required for the observance of these rights. Therefore, the field of maternity care is a field for work in the many areas.
