Abstract
We are talking here about the concepts of development and management of production in the short term. This step assumes that the appropriate resources have been planned, as is usually done in the long term. It usually contains more details than long-term production management, but the typical time horizon is shorter. Another important distinction between long-term and short-term production management is that, although the long-term is usually planned in terms of product families, the short-term is often end-products. Therefore, the short term is an essential part of the production management process, in that it is usually the main "interface" between the production system and external customers.
