NEED AND IMPORTANCE OF INDUSTRIAL TRAINING FOR HOTEL MANAGEMENT CURRICULAM

Abstract
Bachelor level program in the field of hotel management are run in various universities and institutes in India, one of the common and essential part of these courses are industrial training of the students who are studying undergraduate course in the area of hotel management. Industrial training is done in all four major operational department of the hotel which helps in developing the technical skills of students in all four departments. Some of the essential features of industrial training program are structured, meaningful, supervised and practical orientation of the students, the research paper would examine the need and importance of industrial training program for the students of hotel management, this paper would also try to highlight the impact of industrial training on the students who have successfully completed the tenure of their industrial training. On the other hand this paper would try to identify any gap in the academic curriculum and the requirement of the industry Furthermore to analyse the need and importance of industrial training and identifying any relevant gap in the academic curriculum and industry requirement 12 well designed closed ended questions were asked to 100 final year students who have completed their industrial training from various hotels findings of which would be analysed using 5 Point likert scale .The results of the study would be useful for university /Hotel management institutes students who would be pursuing their industrial training and hotels who would be hiring the industrial trainees
