Abstract
The essence of economic security of the higher education system is considered through the prism of resolving the contradictions between national economic interests in higher education and external threats. In the study, the economic security of higher education has been studied as a position of higher education, which provides guaranteed protection of national interests and strategic priorities of the country in higher education, namely, the reproduction of human capital at world standards as a factor in ensuring high economic development and competitiveness of Ukraine in the international arena. The main link where human capital is formed is the institution of higher education. There has been studied the influence of public funding, demographic problems, globalization processes, development of the knowledge economy, etc.. on the level of economic security of the higher education system. A detailed analysis of each component of the economic security of the higher education system with recommendations for promising areas of development has been actualized
