Abstract
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become an integral part of the developmental process of an economy. It implies the initiatives undertaken by the corporate units to achieve sustainable goals. The motive behind this is to design society benefitting tasks with the aim of ‘giving back to society'. Attempts have been made to bring about revolutionary changes in areas of health, education, employment, infrastructure, rural development, social security, environment, water and sanitation, digitalization, combating poverty, and so on through the CSR initiatives. A large number of CSR schemes have been implemented in India to attain sustainability. Assam is among the top ten states enjoying such benefits. This paper intends to study some of the initiatives undertaken in the state, their contributions towards the economy of Assam, their performances and future prospects. Findings show that the currently available initiatives are not adequate as compared to the ample of requisites to boost the developmental scenario of the state. Expansion of CSR strategies is thus necessary to bring about a holistic development of the state of Assam
