Abstract
This article presents an automatic mind map gen-erator from unstructured text of Wikipedia to help improve students learning efficiency in the form of visual display. The system, Otowik consists of two major components; the extractor and the generator. When a topic of interest is found, the system will extract keywords and key phrases from Wikipedia. Next, the generator will generate a mind map based on the key phrases extracted from Wikipedia and represent the words with images. The performance of Otowik is then evaluated via a User Acceptance Test (UAT) and the results showed that the average percentage for ‘Strongly Agree' in terms of ‘Usefulness' is 54.5%, ‘Ease of Use' is 65.6%, and ‘User Satisfaction' is 62.3%. Through Otowik, students no longer need to go through the hefty process of reading and understanding the topic prior to constructing a mind map
