Abstract
The term culture encompasses almost all aspects of human life. In this direction of Assam in nineteenth century, the renaissance brought about the educated middle class of Assam. The names of Maniram Dewan, Jagyaram Khargharia Phukan, Anandaram Dhekiyal Phukan, Hemchandra Baruah etc. are notable in this case. The research paper discusses the renaissance and the role of the educated middle class of nineteenth century in various aspects of culture such as economics, music, education, literature, values, etc
