ONLINE READING STRATEGY AWARENESS AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS FOR EMPLOYABILITY OF ARTS AND SCIENCE STUDENTS

Abstract
Digital literacy is one the seven survival skills that are necessary to meet the demands of the 21st century life, education and work. This paper reports the awareness levels of the Arts and Science students in deploying online reading strategies during their digital reading. The findings of the study reveals that most of the tertiary level students prefer to read using digital devices. However, the students' use of online reading strategies are at moderate level. Overall, students' use of online reading strategy has moderately correlated with their reading comprehension achievements. Thus, the study suggest that enhancing the awareness of the students in using online reading strategy may improve their language proficiency and technology use.
