Abstract
Emotional intelligence has become an important topic of research for the last few years. Significance of having high emotional quotient is often highlighted in many of the studies to an extent that it is often rated even above IQ. Emotional intelligence is identified as one of the top ten essential job skills required for workers. During this uncertain period of Covid-19, many employees are struggling to adapt to new ways of work like doing work from home, primarily due to lack of social interactions. This emphasizes the need for understanding and regulating one's own emotions. Recognizing emotions of others too is equally important. Therefore, emotional intelligence is really a unique intelligence that every employee should possess at each and every phase of their career. Self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills are the essential building blocks of this unique intelligence at work.
