Abstract

With the pandemic, forcing the governments all over the world to closure of all educational institutions teachers all over the world, regardless of the level they were teaching were quick to adapt to new technologies so that learning went unhindered for their students. This phenomenon was paradoxical since education system was often blamed for not accepting the new technologies just a few months ago. This study is one of the pioneering attempts to develop an extended technology adoption model to explain the rapid adoption of technology platforms by the teachers More than 300 questionnaires were distributed to the University teachers in the electronic form. 202 were usable. Passion to consume technology was used as an external variable along with TAM variables such as perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude and User Intention. Multiple regression was used to study the interrelation between variables. The results prove that the variable Passion to consume technology predicted the User Intention of teachers through the mediation of traditional Technology adoption variables such as perceived uefulness, perceived ease of use and attitude. The major impact of the study is that it dispels the myth that teachers are slow to adapt to technology. The practical implication of the study is that given the right kind of motivation and training on new technologies, Teachers are very quick to adapt to new technologies for teaching. Hence new models of teaching and learning can be explored by educational institutions even after the pandemic exploiting new technologies.
