Abstract
The purpose of this article is to emphasize the importance of knowing socio-economic, cultural and historical background of Co-operative movement in order to establish viable forms of cooperation in every sector of the economy. Nowadays, support for agricultural cooperation is one of the priorities of agricultural development programs in Georgia. That's' why, it is of paramount importance to render capacity building assistance to small farmers which are lacking in knowledge of fundamental principles of cooperatives and adequate skills of leadership to plan and establish successful models of agricultural cooperatives. This article is mainly focused on the reasons why different types of cooperatives were originated in Europe (England, Germany, Denmark, etc.) and what were the major outcomes of each cooperation forms.
