BATTERY STATE OF CHARGE OF A PLUGGED-IN HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Abstract
The project deals with electric vehicle batteries owing to the increased demand of electric vehicles. SOC or State of Charge of a battery simply means level of charge left in the battery at any point of time. Proper estimation of SOC is really important and can be by OCV method, Kalman Filter method, Coulomb counting method, etc. Here Coulomb counting method is used for estimation. A battery version is created in MATLAB/Simulink. The battery model is explained and this created model is then used for estimation of SOC. The results are demonstrated from experimental data. The model advanced is for Li-ion Battery.
