Abstract

Social Sciences are a field which includes many disciplines. Various strategies, methods and techniques are used in transferring the acquisitions of this field. One of these disciplines is the Historical Empathy Technique used together with many other techniques in transferring the acquisitions of the field of History. The use of historical empathy technique in social studies lesson is important for the student to have the opportunity to evaluate the plot according to the conditions of the day. In this study, the purpose is determining the perceptions of social Sciences teachers on the use of historical empathy technique in social Sciences classes. The qualitative research method has been used in the study, and the findings have been analyzed with the content analysis and descriptive analysis techniques, and the teacher opinions have been illustrated. In line with these techniques, the working group consists of 30 social studies teachers. Descriptive scanning model was used in the study. The findings obtained in the study are classified as sub-themes and presented in tables. As a result of the study, remarkable results were obtained regarding the use of historical empathy technique in social studies lesson. It was determined that social studies teachers who contributed to the study with their opinions have a high level of awareness regarding the use of historical empathy technique in social studies lessons and they display different perspectives in the process of using this technique.
