Abstract
This study empirically examined the relationship between controlling information and employee cognitive engagement. The study was motivated by the need to establish empirical credence to any relationship between controlling information and employee cognitive engagement. The study also filled the paucity of research on this construct, especially within the geographical scope. The study is quantitative; utilised census technique (n = 383) and adopted Cronbach's alpha coefficient, statistical power test, Spearman correlation, linear regression analysis in establishing the reliability, true effect, strength and direction, and relationship between controlling information and employee cognitive engagement, respectively. The study found a weak positive relationship (r = .167: p < 0.05) between controlling information and employee cognitive engagement. Finally, the study articulated the implications of the finding to both theoretical and practical terms.
