Abstract

The article deals with the relevance, importance problems and ways of improving the information and analytical support for combating organized crime in Ukraine. It is determined that successful counteraction to organized crime should be based on a deep and comprehensive analysis, assessment of different phenomena, processes, factors, the need to use all sources of information on organized crime. The importance of information and analytical support for the subjects of counteraction to organized crime by the National Police Criminal Analysis units conducting operational, tactical and strategic analyzes is analyzed. The relation of information and analytical activity of these units with the units of organizational and analytical support and prompt response of the National Police is considered. Emphasis is placed on the individual aspects of duplication of these units. The role and importance of information and analytical activity of the newly formed units of strategic investigations of the National Police are considered. The characteristics of the operational environment, its constituent elements and the factors that influence it are identified and considered. Under the operational situation of the state of organized crime in the state it is offered to understand a set of factors of political, economic, administrative, legal nature regarding combating organized crime, the level and state of organized crime in the state, conditions and results of activity of subjects of counteraction to it and the level of support of the population. It is argued that today major efforts should be directed to improving the quality and prognostic orientation of information and analytical support for the fight against organized crime, to carry out such activities not along with general criminal crime, but to pursue it purposefully, which will give the opportunity to make sound administrative decisions precisely. The role in the information and analytical support of the Interdepartmental Research Center on Combating Organized Crime at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine is considered, ways of its reforming and improvement of activity are suggested.
