Abstract
The parameters of optimal performance in sprinting involve speed, stride velocity, and stride frequency. Most of the time, a human coach cannot present accurate data of sprinting parameters to the athlete only by using a stopwatch. Using a stopwatch, one can only determine the data of duration that a sprinter needs to reach a certain distance. SprintA is an Android app developed to provide detailed data of the three parameters to the coach; these parameters are significant indicators of a sprinter's performance. SprintA integrates the acceleration data acquired from the accelerometer sensor in an Android smartphone; by this mechanism, the velocity and distance data were obtained. The data were then used as the indicator to determine the number of strides in every second of sprinting. The SprintA system was tested by comparing the factual distance and time record from a stopwatch with the time recorded in the SprintA app
