Abstract

Employee performance is a measure of the effectiveness of one's job. Hence, optimal job performance is often the primary outcome that organizations seek to attain. Leadership has capacity to attain job performance and translate organizational vision into reality. A suitable leadership will yield better employee performance and involvement within the organization. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between authoritative and laissez-faire leadership styles, employee involvement and performance through cross sectional study. For testing the relationship primary data were collected through self-administered adopted questionnaire from the employees of Sindh Education Foundation. Statistical Results show that only authoritative leadership directly effects on employee involvement and performance. Whereas, there is strong positive association between employee involvement and employee performance. It is concluded that moderate freedom and effective supervision to be adopted at the work place to ensure effective utilization of human resource and high levels of employee work involvement and performance. Based on the findings of the study, it is recommended that organizations improve their organizational involvement and performance by appointing managers who possess good leadership qualities.
