Abstract

Monitoring of Railway System is the core of operation management. Monitoring of odorants and/or chemical pollutants in the railway environment has become a major challenge to scientific community. Monitoring of environmental pollution is considered a crucial element in the assessment of air quality in the cities. The present paper develop an automatic real-time RFID system for monitoring and control interior chemicals changes such as carbon monoxide and ammonia in train carriages. The aim of this system is to keep passengers safety from pollution inside the train by real-time automatic monitoring and control the interior environment. The proposed system determine the RFID readers location for detecting tags data which are fixed inside the train carriages based on two different stations . This task involves three objective functions, the first is to find the optimum readers number to employ them in the system, the second is to coverage all tags to be sure that all the carriages are monitored, the third is to minimize the interference between the readers propagation area to avoid confused data. The used algorithm to achieve the paper target was the Density Based Clustering method firefly algorithm MDBFA, and the case study was Kuala Lumpur railway system. The results observe a robust RFID network design indicating that the MDBFA algorithm is suitable for solving large dimension RNP problems.
