PROMOTING CULINARY TOURISM: SOFT SKILL-SETS REQUIRED WITH REFERENCE TO FOOD OUTLETS EN ROUTE TO YAMUNOTRI SHRINE

Abstract
This study aims to assess the Soft skill-sets required to promote the Culinary tourism in the Food outlets, mainly in the food outlets and dhabas enroute to the famous Yamunotri Shrine of Uttarakhand state. The study signifies that essential skills such as Interpersonal Skills, Empathy and Behavioural skills are the most important among all the skills required by the people associated with the business. Data was collected through a questionnaire on Likert scale of 5 during a period of 09 weeks between August and September 2019.
The findings suggested that culinary tourism can easily be promoted when the service providers are coupled with the above mentioned skill-sets. This in turn, can contribute significantly towards increased tourist satisfaction, attraction and hence increased revenue generation.
