Abstract
The aim of the article was an attempt to theoretically substantiate and empirically explore the specifics of the relationship of value orientations and ethnic identity of youth. It was expected that there was a definite relationship between some value orientations and individual characteristics of the ethnic identity of young people. An analysis of literary sources made it possible to assert that values occupy one of the leading positions in the process of forming an ethnic identity of a person. In the course of an empirical study, we obtained results that indicate semantic groups of concepts, namely, value orientations, which in the view of young people are the most significant. So, ethnic identity cannot be formed without reliance on values and cannot be realized outside the system of value orientations. The results of the study can be used in the practice of a psychologist or psychological consultation, in the practice of psychocorrection and in the planning and organization of trainings. Also, the results can be used in organizing educational work with students, based on the characteristics of the specialty and the age of students.
