Domestic biography through intellectual and spiritual transformations of society

Abstract
The article analyzes the evolution of ideas about the role and place of biography in modern society, the changes in perception of biographical literature and information with regard to globalization, information revolution, the crisis nature of modern world development, the advent of "liquid modernity”and uncertainty, and the ensuing changes in values, life strategies and cognitive interests of proactive share of domestic readership. The importance of biographical knowledgein personal growth and spiritual quests of our contemporaries is highlighted, especially in shaping their ideals and beliefs, transmission of moral values, experience, and traditions between generations, ensuring the latter's transformation; affirming concepts of a person's organic connection to their homeland. The tasksand ways are outlined of overcoming the inherited stereotypes of simplified and one-sided historical figure interpretation. Emphasis is placed on the need to transform national biography studies as a historical tool for discovering the past in its particular faces and images into a scientific and cultural branch whose objectiveis to comprehend humanity, a person in their complexity and multiple dimensions, epochspecific or universal. Concrete description is given for tasks in adopting international and European experience, enriching the creative arsenal of domestic biography, the use of new forms of biographical writing; in promotion of research, publishing, and communication with different readers with "soft" technologies from humanities introduced.
